Welcome to the Department of Environmental Sciences at the School of Technology, University of Thessaly. Our Department was established in 2019 and is located in Gaiopolis Campus, Larissa, Greece. Since its first academic year, 2019-2020, it has been welcoming students and actively participating in European programmes, such as ERASMUS+, while maintaining collaborations with universities all over the world. In recent years, the Department has been admitting more than 80 undergraduate students annually and is staffed by 13 members of academic staff, who are involved in high-level research and educational activities.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Department offers an updated BSc in Environmental Sciences, and since the academic year 2022-2023, has also delivered an MSc in Environmental Management. Additionally, since academic year 2020-2021, it has offered the possibility of pursuing Doctoral studies in Environmental Sciences.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Department\u2019s field of study covers a wide scientific scope, combining elements from biological, physical, chemical, and geo sciences, as well as economic and sociological approaches. Special emphasis is placed on the application of cutting-edge technologies, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing.<\/p>\n

Environmental Sciences represent a modern and dynamically evolving scientific field, with increasing significance for the sustainable management of natural resources and environmental protection. Our Department promotes an interdisciplinary approach, aiming to understand, manage, and protect the environment, providing students with valuable skills and career prospects through a combination of scientific disciplines to solve contemporary environmental challenges.<\/p>\n
