1. BUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE

The premises of the Department of Environmental Sciences (classrooms, lecture halls, teaching and research laboratories, secretariat and professors’ offices) are located in Larissa, at the University Campus of “Geopolis”.

2. TEACHING ROOMS AND LABORATORIES

Modern, functional classrooms are available for the educational purposes of the Department. These are three (3) classrooms equipped with the latest technology, three (3) auditoriums and ten (10) teaching laboratories that meet the needs of teaching, training and practice as well as host scientific meetings. The teaching laboratories are equipped with computers that provide advanced telematics services and support the educational activities of students in the following fields: Computer Programming, Computer Communications, Data Mining, Databases, Image Processing, Internet Applications.

3. TEACHING STAFF OFFICES

The premises of the Department of Environmental Sciences include fifteen (15) faculty offices.

4. EDUCATIONAL / RESEARCH LABORATORIES

To meet the educational needs of the Department, ten (10) laboratories – two of which are institutionalized – operate and cover a wide range of environmental issues in four specialization groups such as: (a) Environmental Management and Remediation, (b) Waste Management, (c) Environmental Planning and (d) Social and Economic Environmental Analysis. Specifically, the laboratories that operate in support of the educational and research activities of the Department, are the following:

3. Biotechnology Laboratory

4. Biology Laboratory

5. Fluid Mechanics & Environmental Engineering Laboratory

6. Environmental Microbiology Laboratory

7. Laboratory of Environmental Physics

8. Laboratory of Geo-environmental Technology & Soil Management

9. Geoinformatics Laboratory

10. Multimedia Laboratory
