Welcome to the Student Union of the Department of Environmental Sciences!

The Student Union of the Department of Environmental Sciences of the University of Thessaly began its operation in the academic year 2022-2023,with a purpose of strengthening the student community and promoting the rights and interests of students. As active students of the department, who actively participate in the actions and initiatives of the union, we promote cooperation, solidarity and academic progress.

For its better functioning, the union elects a seven-member Board of Directors. All student representatives are elected during the student elections held each year during the spring semester.

Our purpose is to strengthen the student voice, organize educational and social events and to support the creation of a supportive and active academic environment for all students in the department.

Student Activities

The Student Union of the Department of Environmental Sciences is an active part of the student community, organizing and supporting a range of academic, cultural and recreational activities.

🌿 Environmental Group

Our environmental group organizes actions that enhance environmental awareness and sustainability, such as:

• Voluntary clean-ups of natural areas and coasts

• Tree plantings and reforestation initiatives

• Educational workshops on ecology and sustainable development

🎵 Musical Ensembles & Cultural Activities

The Student Union is on the initiative of creating musical ensembles, with a purpose of offering students a creative alternative through music. The request for their establishment has already been approved by the Rectorate

and we are in the process of forming the groups. At the same time, we also support other cultural initiatives, such as:

• Theatrical performances and artistic activities

• Collaboration with cultural groups of the University

🎓 Academic & Scientific Activities

Our purpose is to enhance the academic progress of students through:

• Participation in scientific conferences and workshops

• Organizing seminars and workshops with area experts

🎉 Student Entertainment & Social Events

Student life is not just about studying! Our union organizes entertainment events, giving students the opportunity to get to know each other, have fun and nice memories. Some of our activities include:

• Student parties and theme nights

• Excursions and student sorties
