Academic ID Card
The academic or student ID is an official document which certifies that its holder is a university student. The card also serves as a “Transport Pass”, which specifies the period during which the student is entitled to discounted public transportation tickets. Students can submit their academic ID application electronically, via the website http://academicid.minedu.gov.gr entering the information required, throughout the year.
The following are entitled to the student ID:
- Full-time undergraduate students who are not already University degree holders. The student ID is valid for the number of years required to complete the studies, according to the study programme, plus two (2) years.
- Part-time undergraduate students who are not already University degree holders. The student ID is valid for twice as many years as the years required to complete the studies, according to the study programme.
- Students who are citizens of member states of the European Union and third country nationals, who study at Greek HEIs within the EU mobility programme Erasmus+ for the duration of their studies at the Greek HEI.
Termination of student status for any reason, automatically entails termination of the validity the ID card, in which case, the card should be returned to the Department Secretariat. If the student ID is lost or destroyed, the request for issuing a replacement card is only made by the Secretariat and he student must submit an official certification of loss issued by the Police Department. The cost of the replacement ID is borne by the student. The replacement ID can be collected from the designated point selected by the student when filling in the application, at no extra charge.
